ICCA Welcomes Two New NZ Members

Voyages of Discovery and Oceania Cruises have joined the International Cruise Council Australasia as New Zealand members.


The International Cruise Council Australasia has appointed Peter Kollar as its new Training and Development Manager. Mr Kollar brings a combination of teaching and training qualifications to the role as well as a decade of experience working on several Cruise Line member ships.

The Cruise Council today announced that its 2012 Masters event will be held on Cunard flagship Queen Mary 2 as she sails from Southampton to New York from October 14 to 21.

Tourism New Zealand Joins Cruise Council

Tourism New Zealand has become the International Cruise Council Australasia’s latest associate member as cruising across the Tasman continues to boom. Over the past five years, Australian cruise visitors to New Zealand have increased seven-fold, leaping from 6300 in 2006 to more than 46,600 in 2010.


The total number of New Zealanders who took a cruise holiday in 2010 reached a record 42,886 compared with 31,633 in 2009. New Zealand cruise passenger figures have increased 62 per cent since ICCA figures were first collated in 2006, when 26,510 New Zealanders took a cruise.
The latest figures reveal that almost one per cent of the New Zealand population took a cruise in 2010.


Australian Cruise Numbers Hit New High

The number of Australians taking a cruise holiday reached an all time high of almost half a million in 2010, according to figures released today. The International Cruise Council Australasia (ICCA) 2010 Australian Cruise Industry Report reveals that cruise passenger numbers surged by a massive 27 per cent last year, with a total of 466,692 Australians holidaying at sea, compared to 366,721 in 2009.


New Zealand Cruise Passengers Hit Record High

The numbers of New Zealanders taking a cruise holiday has reached a record high, with 42,886 Kiwis heading to sea in 2010, according to new figures released today. The latest International Cruise Council Australasia statistics show that New Zealand cruise passenger numbers rose 36 per cent last year, compared to 2009.
